Lancer Sports Academy Visits the South

Our mission is to invest in the future of our local student athletes. In January of 2022, the Lancer Sports Academy sponsored 5 Lakewood High School football players by providing admission to compete in one of the biggest high school football exposure camps in Louisiana, Speed Power Exposure (SPE) Camp. The SPE Camp hosted top players from 10 different states. In addition to the attendance of the SPE Camp, the Lakewood High School football players were provided college campus tours and introductions to major college Football programs including Rice University of Houston, Texas and Louisiana State University.

Lancer Sports Academy is proud to have supported the Lakewood High School Football athletes in travel and in admission to the SPE camp, where they were able to compete against some of the best high school football players in the country. While at the SPE Camp, the Lakewood High School Athletes did not fail to impress! From start to finish, the student athletes competed and proved why they are listed as some of the top high school football players in the country. Quarterback, Brayden Downen had an impressive showing, winning him top QB honors. The performance of the 5 Lakewood High School athletes while at SPE Camp, got competitors (other elite football players) and even college coaches' attention.

Lancer Sports Academy coordinated college visits around the camp schedule. While at Rice University, the Lakewood High School football athletes and their families were provided the opportunity to hear from current Rice Football players and their coaching staff. The Rice University Football program emphasized the importance of hard work and sacrifice when speaking to the Lakewood High School athletes. The Lakewood High School football players were provided a grand tour of the football facilities and had the opportunity to "dress the part" with a private photoshoot in Rice University Jerseys and gear!

On the last day of this trip, the Lakewood High School Football players and their families visited Louisiana State University. The players received a first class tour of the campus and football complex. They also had the opportunity to hear from Head Strength Coach, Jake Flint, who shared the importance of the weight room and nutrition. The Lakewood High School Football players were able to try on the LSU uniforms and took photos in the gear! The highlight of this campus visit included a private chat with Head Coach, Brian Kelly. Coach Kelly spoke to the Lakewood High School Football athletes about the importance of maintaining great daily habits, prioritizing academics and focusing on football!

The college visits to Rice University and Louisiana State University provided the Lakewood High School Football players the extra motivation they needed to continue to compete and excel as student athletes!

This trip demonstrated that when one puts in the work, they too can attain a college education and a playing career. Most importantly, this trip allowed players and coaches to bond and create memories that will last a lifetime!
